Enhancing Learning Outcomes
The SEES Literacy Learning System (SLLS) improves reading skills for older students who have fallen behind 2 or more grade levels. Consulting services are also provided for teacher support. With fun, age-appropriate resources and SEL guidance, students are motivated to learn and succeed.
Students in the 4th grade and above who can't read, or struggle to read, are often embarrassed. Sometimes they may even give up on themselves. This can make teaching them to read tough. However, a safe space and a step-by-step system can help them overcome their shame, start to believe in themselves, and begin the work of becoming a better reader.
For older students struggling to read, part of the embarrassment of learning early reading skills stems from the materials used. Often, these resources are created for students in the Pre-K to 3rd grade range. Not only do older students find these items uninteresting, but often they are yet another reminder that the student has fallen behind. Using age-appropriate literacy resources to teach early reading skills removes this stigma and enhances student interest and motivation.
At 4th grade and above, there is little to no foundational skills taught in ELA classrooms. Struggling students must strive to accomplish grade level tasks without the reading skills needed to be successful. An educational consultant can work with the teacher to overcome these challenges. As students learn and review early reading skills, their reading levels increase, allowing them greater and greater access to grade level materials.
To successfully implement the SEES Literacy Learning System, teacher support will be required. Many teachers already feel overloaded with work and have little time to learn a new program and create additional lessons for small group work with students. That's why an educational consultant will help implement the program and provide weeks of on-going support. Additionally, each lesson has a detailed, scripted lesson plan, relieving yet another burden for the teacher. As a bonus, teachers may have access to over 100 resources to supplement the ELA curriculum.

Educational consultants have many roles. The role of the consultant in the SEES Literacy Learning System is to support school districts, schools, and teachers in improving literacy skills for upper elementary and middle school students.
There are studies that show that reading improves thinking and communication skills. While those are great benefits, the SEES system focuses on teaching reading for a more practical reason. Reading skills affect academic performance in every other subject. In Social Studies and Science, students will need to read. Even in Math, students will need to read directions and word problems. Improving reading skills is key for supporting academic achievement across all subjects.

Student success is contingent upon multiple factors. Some of these are the influences of home life, teacher skills, and student motivation. Working within these parameters, the SEES Literacy Learning System has enabled many struggling readers to significantly improve their reading levels in just one school year. With diligent adherence to the system, it is highly likely that these results can also be duplicated for other students.
The SEES system is intended to supplement a school's current ELA curriculum. It provides easily implemented, effective lessons for small group time or for the Readers & Writers Workshop model. While the focus within the system is on lessons that improve literacy for struggling scholars, students on and above grade level also need to grow their skills throughout the school year. Therefore, resources and materials are also available for students with reading skills on and above grade level.
